DeviceBoard IoT EDGE
Low-latency edge device running DeviceBoard EDGE for real-time rule execution, with seamless data streaming to DeviceBoard Cloud for analytics and integration.
Product Overview
DeviceBoard IoT EDGE is an industrial edge gateway designed to bring real-time intelligence closer to your machines, sensors and field assets. It runs the DeviceBoard EDGE engine locally for ultra low-latency rule execution, while continuously streaming data records to DeviceBoard Cloud for storage, dashboards, analytics and ERP integration.
1. Core Edge Intelligence Capabilities
- DeviceBoard EDGE runtime pre-installed for running rule flows directly on the device.
- Low-latency rule execution for alarms, control actions, threshold checks and data transformations.
- Local decision making – execute logic even when connectivity to cloud is slow or intermittent.
- Support for multi-step workflows: read → process → decide → actuate → forward to cloud.
- Flexible configuration through the DeviceBoard UI with visual rule flow building.
2. Data Flow to DeviceBoard Cloud
- Dual-path architecture – process at the edge, then forward raw or processed data to the cloud.
- Continuous data streaming to DeviceBoard Cloud for dashboards, digital twins and long-term history.
- Configurable payloads – send selected attributes, aggregated values or full telemetry as needed.
- Cloud-side analytics – once data reaches DeviceBoard Cloud, use advanced analytics, reports and integrations.
- Keeps a single, unified view of assets across multiple sites and edge nodes.
3. Connectivity & Field Interfaces
- Industrial interfaces such as RS-232 / RS-485 for Modbus and serial devices.
- Ethernet ports for PLCs, controllers, SCADA systems and on-prem servers.
- Optional BLE / LoRaWAN / digital I/O (depending on hardware variant) for sensors and actuators.
- Network options: wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi and optional cellular connectivity for remote sites.
- Designed to work in manufacturing plants, farms, warehouses, buildings and remote locations.
4. DeviceBoard EDGE Rule Engine
- Build visual rule flows in DeviceBoard and deploy them to IoT EDGE devices.
- Supports threshold-based alerts, windowed aggregation, math functions and data enrichment.
- Event-driven actions – trigger relays, send messages, update local tags or push commands to equipment.
- Local buffering for events and telemetry, ensuring resilience during outages.
- Ability to run edge-side scripts or functions (depending on configuration) for custom logic.
5. Security & Management
- Secure communication with DeviceBoard Cloud using TLS-encrypted channels.
- Device authentication via keys or certificates issued from DeviceBoard.
- Remote configuration and updates of rule flows and firmware from a central console.
- Role-based access control for operators, engineers and administrators.
- Audit logs and health status monitoring for fleets of Edge devices.
6. Industrial-Grade Hardware Design
- Rugged enclosure for harsh environments with dust and vibration.
- Wide operating temperature range suited for plant floors and outdoor cabinets.
- DIN-rail or wall-mount options for easy installation in control panels.
- Industrial power input with surge and transient protection (spec dependent).
- LED indicators for power, connectivity, and rule execution status.
7. Typical Use Cases
- Smart factories – machine monitoring, production KPIs, predictive-maintenance triggers.
- Smart agriculture – local irrigation control, pump scheduling, environment monitoring.
- Smart buildings – HVAC rules, energy optimization, occupancy-based control.
- Cold chain & warehouses – temperature/humidity alarms, access control, asset tracking.
- Remote sites – telemetry and automation where network coverage is unstable.
8. Key Advantages
- Instant responses at the edge thanks to on-device rule execution.
- No data loss with local buffering and automatic resync to DeviceBoard Cloud.
- Lower bandwidth usage via edge-side filtering and aggregation.
- Unified edge-to-cloud platform – DeviceBoard EDGE + DeviceBoard Cloud working together.
- Scalable architecture – from a single site to multi-site global fleets.
