KANKANAL E-Ink Display
Ultra-low-power wireless E-Ink display for smart workplaces, retail and IoT signage, seamlessly connected through the KANKANAL LoRaWAN Gateway.
Product Overview
The KANKANAL E-Ink Display is a network-ready electronic paper module designed for digital signage, room and desk labels, shelf tags and IoT dashboards. It uses a tri-colour E-Ink screen for paper-like readability while consuming extremely low power. When paired with the KANKANAL LoRaWAN Gateway, each display becomes a fully managed edge device that can be updated securely from DeviceBoard or your enterprise applications.
1. High-Clarity E-Ink Screen
- 4.2″ tri-colour E-Ink panel (black/white/red) for modern, eye-catching layouts.
- 400 × 300 pixel resolution delivering crisp text, barcodes, icons and QR codes.
- Wide viewing angle for easy reading from across the room or aisle.
- Perfectly readable in bright office, retail or daylight conditions with no glare.
2. LoRaWAN Connectivity & KANKANAL Gateway Integration
- Built-in LoRaWAN radio connects directly to the KANKANAL LoRaWAN Gateway for long-range, low-power communication.
- Supports campus-wide and building-wide deployments with minimal infrastructure.
- Displays can be grouped and managed centrally via DeviceBoard or Kankanal middleware.
- Supports secure over-the-air updates for content, configuration and firmware.
3. Flexible Content & Template Control
- Displays text, icons, graphics, barcodes and QR codes in a single layout.
- Supports multi-language content for global deployments.
- Use pre-built templates for meeting rooms, hot desks, shelf labels and asset tags, or design your own layouts.
- Content can be triggered by DeviceBoard rules – for example, show status from sensors, bookings or ERP events.
4. Ultra-Low Power Operation
- Powered by three coin-cell batteries, with no wiring required at the installation point.
- E-Ink technology only consumes power when the image changes, enabling multi-year battery life under typical usage.
- Ideal for large-scale deployments where replacing batteries frequently would be costly.
- Configurable refresh policies (for example, once per day or on state change) to optimise lifetime.
5. Slim, Robust Design & Easy Mounting
- Compact and lightweight enclosure suitable for walls, doors, shelves, desks and equipment.
- Durable housing designed for indoor commercial environments.
- Supports adhesive, screw or bracket mounting depending on site requirements.
- Built-in buzzer and button options for local interaction or alerts (model dependent).
6. Typical Use Cases with KANKANAL LoRaWAN Gateway
- Smart workplaces – meeting room signage, hot-desk booking, visitor badges and wayfinding.
- Retail & grocery – electronic shelf labels, promo tags and dynamic pricing tied to Kankanal Retail ERP.
- Warehouses & logistics – bin labels, pallet tags and zone indicators linked to inventory systems.
- Smart buildings – door labels, energy or occupancy indicators driven by DeviceBoard sensor data.
- Industrial IoT – machine status boards and maintenance indicators where wiring is impractical.
7. Key Advantages
- Wireless, battery-powered deployment with no local power or network cabling.
- Enterprise-grade integration via KANKANAL LoRaWAN Gateway and DeviceBoard.
- Highly readable, low-glare display that looks like printed paper.
- Scalable architecture – hundreds or thousands of displays managed centrally.
- Lower total cost of ownership than traditional LCD signage due to low power and simple infrastructure.
